Snappet welcomes applications for (Senior) Data Scientists, Machine Learning Researchers or Machine Learning Engineers with 3+ years of work experience to join our Data Science & Machine Learning community.

Snappet’s mission
Improve the learning results of children: that’s what we do at Snappet. Our algorithms are used in more than 3000 schools across Europe and the USA by more than 300.000 pupils. Teachers teach our lessons and pupils answer our exercises daily inside the classroom in primary education. Our content exists for many subjects, of which mathematics and spelling are the most used. Snappet was introduced in the market 12 years ago, and since then the company has grown to 130 employees. This includes our data science and machine learning team of 6-7, and a dedicated mlops team and data engineering team with whom we collaborate closely

What you’ll do

• Work on translating model predictions to meaningful numbers for teachers - based on an understanding of what is important and on solid statistical analysis.

• Work together in our team to define & automatically check what makes a model good enough for our platform; collaborate with engineering to put our models and algorithms into production

• Join forces with business leads and educational stakeholders to identify and scope opportunities for data science and machine learning solutions

About you

• 3+ years of experience in data science & machine learning

• Strong Python and SQL skills

• Team player with collaborative, proactive and positive attitude

• You live in the Netherlands

• Great communication skills for collaboration with the team, educational & business stakeholders and engineering

• You enjoy sharing your knowledge and skills with others and contributing towards their growth

• An intrinsic motivation to contribute to education together with the team

A plus if you also have

• 5+ years of experience in data science & machine learning

• Affinity with education or educational technology

• Experience with AWS (or Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

• Knowledge of MLOps concepts and tooling; ML at scale and ML architecture and/or data engineering best practices: CI, infrastructure as code, containerized software, big data flows

• Experience with reinforcement learning or other recommender systems

• Experience with sequential models such as LSTMs, Transformers

• Applying the models above to large datasets and/or large production environments

• Experience with long-term planning in research
